Twitch Affiliate Requirements 2026: The New 25-Follower, 4-Day Rules Explained

Twitch Affiliate requirements in 2026: at least 25 followers, at least 4 hours streamed on at least 4 different days, and an average of 3 or more concurrent viewers on 4 of those days, all inside a rolling 30-day window. Twitch lowered the first three in early June 2026. The viewer requirement did not get easier, and it is the one that stops most new channels.

This guide explains each condition, how Twitch counts it, and what you can do about the one that's hard.

What changed in 2026

Twitch announced the new numbers in its Monetization for All post on 13 May 2026, and they took effect in early June.

Everything is measured over the last 30 days, and Twitch checks it again every day. You don't apply: when all four conditions are true at the same time, Twitch sends the Affiliate invitation to your email and to your dashboard.

You also need two-factor authentication turned on before you can accept the invitation, so set that up now rather than when the email arrives.

The four conditions, one by one

1. 25 followers

This is a lifetime count, not a 30-day one. Followers you had last year still count. For most people who stream to friends, a Discord or a small social following, 25 comes quickly.

2. Four hours of streaming

Four hours in total across the 30 days. Two 2-hour streams are enough. So are four 1-hour streams, which also takes care of the next condition.

3. Four different days

The four hours have to be spread over at least four calendar days. A single 6-hour marathon counts as one day.

4. Three average viewers on four days

This is the condition that matters. Twitch looks at your average concurrent viewers per stream day, not your peak. A stream that spikes to 10 viewers for five minutes and sits at 1 for the rest of the evening averages close to 1.

Two details trip people up:

• Your own view doesn't help. A second device logged in to your account, or a tab left open on your own stream, isn't a way to reach 3.
• Long streams can lower your average. If you have 4 viewers for the first hour and 1 for the next three, you averaged under 2. Shorter streams while you're small often average higher.

Why 3 viewers is the hard part

Twitch's category pages can be sorted by viewer count, and in most categories that means a new stream at 0 or 1 viewer sits below hundreds or thousands of other streams. People browsing rarely scroll that far. So a new channel has little visibility exactly when it needs viewers most. We explain this in more detail in how Twitch ranks streams in categories.

What actually moves the average:

1. Stream at the same times every week. Returning viewers are the easiest viewers. A fixed schedule turns one-off visitors into people who come back.
2. Pick categories where you can be seen. In a category with 50 live channels you appear on the first screen with 3 viewers. In one with 5,000 you don't.
3. Tell people outside Twitch you're live. A Discord ping, a short clip, a post in a community you're part of. Most small streams grow from off-platform first.
4. Talk even when chat is quiet. Viewers who arrive to a silent streamer leave. Our guide to getting people talking in your Twitch chat covers this.
5. Keep streams shorter until the average holds. Two focused hours beat six hours of trailing off.

What you can already do without Affiliate

The same 2026 update opened several monetization features to streamers who aren't Affiliates yet. According to Twitch, eligible streamers get Bits, subscriptions, emotes, badges and Channel Points regardless of Affiliate status, starting in the US and expanding globally. That makes Affiliate less of a gate than it was, but it still matters: it is Twitch's first official program tier, and the path to Partner starts there.

What about viewer bots?

Some streamers try to reach 3 average viewers with a viewer bot. Be clear about what that means:

• Twitch's Community Guidelines prohibit artificially inflated viewership. That applies to every provider, whatever it promises.
• Twitch can remove inflated views, and an account can be suspended.
• A bot can make a stream more visible in the directory. It can't make anyone stay, and Affiliate on its own doesn't pay much if nobody real is watching.

FAQ

How long does it take to get Affiliate after meeting the requirements?
Twitch checks eligibility daily, so the invitation usually arrives within a day or two of all four conditions being true together.

Do raids count toward the 3 viewers?
Raiders who stay count as viewers while they're watching. A raid that leaves after two minutes barely moves a 2-hour average.

Did the Partner requirements change too?
The June 2026 change covered Affiliate. The Path to Partner achievement still asks for much larger numbers; check your Creator Dashboard for the current targets.

Is it still worth becoming an Affiliate in 2026?
Yes. It's the first program tier, it's what Partner builds on, and meeting the requirements usually means your channel has found its first regular viewers.
